We are sorry to announce that due to lack of funding and increased needs we are no longer able to offer financial assistance for rent or utilities.
We are not a shelter and do not offer housing until we raise 2 million dollars to build housing in the future.
We will continue to offer our street outreach Friday mornings at the Link Transit Hub parking lot in downtown Burlington, where we offer anyone coffee, snacks, socks and toiletries.
We will also continue our Load for the Road laundry service at Page's Laundromat Wednesday mornings for those who are homeless.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate this difficult time.
There's much to see here. So, take your time, look around, and learn all there is to know about us. We hope you enjoy our site and take a moment to drop us a line.
Major Announcement
It is with mixed emotions that Fresh Start Alamance announces the closing of our Community Center until such time as we build quality affordable housing and can house it there or the need arises for another location.
Since opening in April 2019 we have been honored to serve over 247 wonderful people, in addition to people who just stopped in to receive clothing or food. We helped 4 people obtain and maintain permanent housing in apartments or houses. Through the generosity of New Life @ Hocutt we were able to allow people to take 3063 showers and do 1087 loads of laundry! The generosity of the community in helping keep us filled with supplies blessed us beyond belief.
We are excited to enter Phase II of our business plan to end homelessness by raising money to buy property and to build quality affordable housing as we have found this is the #1 NEED in Alamance County that is not being met. In order to do this we must focus our energy and resources on making this a reality. We will continue to reach out and maintain contact with our friends through street outreach like we did in the very beginning and our laundry ministry "A Load for the Road". Hours by appointment only by calling 336-525-9936.
If you would like to join us in making our goal a reality please contact us via Facebook Messenger, phone or email @ janet.freshstartalamance@gmail.com
We will still be giving out snacks such as Vienna Sausages, Beanie Weanies, Cheese Crackers, Water, Coffee, Nutra Grain Bars, Flavor packets for water, etc.
Our long term needs will be: Grant Writers, Land, Contractors, Lawyers, Volunteers to help build, Partners who share our vision to end homelessness by making housing affordable, Case Managers to follow housed individuals for at least 6 months, Volunteers willing to talk to the community and raise awareness, and last but certainly not least we will need Volunteers willing to organize fundraising!
Again, thank you all for your constant support, we love and appreciate you all!

Our snack bags cost $2.25 each and we serve 15-30 people each week. You can help by rounding up at Walmart or purchase on our registry. Click the Donate button below to be taken to our Walmart Sparkgood page.
Please consider donating to our laundry service that meets at Page's Laundromat every Wednesday at 10:30 where we provide detergent and pay for washing and drying clothes for those who can't afford it. An easy way to help is to collect your quarters and we will meet for pickup!

If a person is denied we work with a local lawyer to appeal the decision. Interested in helping us meet with our clients? We are in need of quiet space with privacy. We currently meet with people in the library. Thank you for your support!
Disclaimer: We are still a small nonprofit and can only offer referrals and minimal financial help at this time. Please see the pictures below for United Way's list of resources in Alamance County.
Alamance County property owners have raised their rent recently and due to this and stagnant salaries there is an increase in not only homeless individuals, but families and single parents with multiple children. We hope to help eradicate this by providing quality affordable 1-3 Bedroom apartments, with proper funding, for those who qualify.. We will provide access to Literacy classes, counseling, meals, employment assistance and on site childcare for residents only. Our target populations are Veterans, Women, Families and children aging out of Foster Care.
